Jim Matteri has been working with at-risk teens for the past 14 years. He received
his Bachelor's Degree in Youth Ministry and Bible Theology from San Jose
Christian College in 2003 and was ordained as a minister in 2004.
Jim was called into youth ministry at the age of 20 and has loved it ever
since. It’s his passion to reach the teens in our community that haven’t been reached by the church. He wants to create a place where anyone could feel welcome, no matter what race, background, or beliefs they have.
The goal of this youth program is to turn the hearts of teens towards God so they may find purpose in life and that they may experience the ultimate love and forgiveness that God has to offer.

What we are about

Although we have the same priorities as the church as a whole, our services and events look very different than what you might see at a traditional church. We try to never be dull or repetitive. We impress on our students to question the social norms of today while sharing the love of Jesus.
Here are a few things we offer on a regular basis…
Large group gatherings – Wednesday nights at 7 p.m. in the main sanctuary
Our Wednesday night service is focused around worship. A few hundred students from Quartz Hill High, Lancaster High, Highland, Desert Christian, AV Christian, Antelope Valley and Eastside come together to start and grow in their relationship with Jesus. We reach out to those who do not know Christ – so they can worship him. We take time out of our lives so we can re-focus our lives – to worship him. Through songs, study, and laughter we hope to introduce you to Jesus and help you to fall in love with him. Our worship team is loud, talented, and will help you engage with God.
On Sunday morning we study straight thorough the bible. Our teaching team of leaders couples an understanding of the scriptures with small group questions and interaction. This is a time when students can ask questions, pray with their peers, and discover how to study God’s word on their own. Our worship style during this time is mellow and acoustic.
Small Groups – We have small groups available for all age groups Freshmen through Seniors. For more information, go to: High School Small Groups
Summer Camps - We provide a camp that pulls you away from the stress of high school, into an oasis with God. Our camps are great ways for you to start your relationship with God, grow in it, meet new friends, and relax and have fun.
Winter conferences - We spend a long week end skiing or boarding, laughing and having a mountain top experience with God. Don’t just be another number; get involved.
Activities - Beach trips, game nights, BBQ’s, Bowling, Movie nights, sleep-overs, sports outreaches. We pretty much do it all. Check the calendar to see what’s happening.
Mission trips - We have a trip to Mexico every Spring and Fall. We head down on a Friday and spend until Sunday building houses for those who do not have one. What an accomplishment for a weekend. These are events that make you realize what God can do with a person who is willing to be used by him.

For youth trips such as camps and missions, we require a current Medical Consent Form to complete the registration process.

Medical Consent Forms should be updated yearly, or whenever there is a change in your teenager's health history or insurance coverage. All completed forms may be faxed to the church office at (661) 945-0862. In addition, forms may be turned in during church office hours (8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday) or at any High School service.
