HOPE AGAIN COUNSELING
|
Who Needs It?
In reality, everyone does. Counseling is for any person who realizes that they need to make decisions that will bring some kind of change into their personal life or a difficult situation.
Some people think that counseling is just for people experiencing some kind of personal crisis. However, it is also effective for those who are navigating through life and realize the importance of getting wise advice for the journey ahead

What is It?
Our Counseling is Biblically based. There is no charge, and lasts from one to ten sessions, as needed. The counselors are lay-men and women who are quality members of Central Christian Church and are trained to counsel from a Biblical perspective.
What if I have had a ‘bad experience’ with counseling before?
This is a very common problem. Often, people are afraid to come in for counseling because they have had a disappointing experience with a previous counselor, group, or church. Perhaps they were ignored or injured by those who were supposed to help, or were given ‘easy answer’ advice, such as “read the Bible, pray, and come to church.” Maybe they were given various ‘rules’ that they were to follow without question or negotiation.
One of our primary goals at Central Christian Church is to help you take a look at the specific things that concern you in light of the remarkable truths revealed for us in the Word of God. We understand that ‘pat answers’ are not really answers at all.
According to Psalm 19, genuine answers ‘connect’ with us in a way that brings refreshment, wisdom, joy, and insight.
Perhaps you have had a bad experience and are reluctant to try counseling again. On the other hand, you realize that you are probably missing something that might help you… if you could just find it. Our team of counselors is composed of men and women who will be interested in you and your specific needs. They are anxious to work together with you to chart a meaningful course of action specific to your situation.
“God is not real to me”
The fact that you have been reading about our counseling services here at Central Christian Church probably indicates that you are concerned about the most important relationship you will ever have—your relationship with God. Problems in our lives cause many of our deepest questions to come to the surface. “Why is this happening to me?” “I’ve tried to be a good Christian, so why does God seem far away?” “Is God punishing me for something?” “How do I know God is there?” “If God is so real, why has the Christian life been such a disappointment for me?” “We raised our children to love the Lord, so why have they gone the other direction?” “I’ve asked the Lord to take away my anger, but He hasn’t done it. What is wrong?”
Questions like these are more important than people realize. They actually reveal that a person has been doing some necessary thinking about foundational issues underlying his or her relationship with God. These questions become a major problem for people who are discovering that their concept of God does not seem to ‘work’ or fit the realities and struggles of daily life.
If there is one truth that cries out from every book of the Bible, it is this—God wants to be known. It is important to Him that we know Him as He really is, not as we sometimes want Him to be. The questions listed above, and many others like them, are just the ‘first steps’ in the process of coming to know and experience God more fully. This is our major objective in the counseling ministry. We realize that God is already at work in your life. We want to help you take the next steps toward knowing God as you’ve never known Him before.
